![]() ![]() I kept waking up to a hot and stuffy room because of this penny-pinching policy from the hotel. On a less positive note, there are signs next to thermostats in the rooms saying since it is a "newer" hotel the air conditioning systems will turn off after 5 minutes of no movement in the room to be "green." You know when you stop moving for more than five minutes? When you go to sleep. It was clean and the beds were fairly comfortable. I also was generally pleased with the room. When I checked out, I was not given my daily Gold Member food/beverage credit. This must have been my mistake, but a hotel that claims to be 4 stars should be able to provide housekeeping on demand if not daily. I asked for housekeeping one morning and was told I had to ask 24 hours prior. I expected more given the usual room service fees were charged. I ordered room service breakfast which was delivered in a paper bag with plastic utensils. Check-in was slow and a bit disorganized. The main shortcomings were in the service. My room was nice and typical of a 4 star chain hotel. A definite plus for aviation enthusiasts such as me. There are great views of the runways at LAX from most rooms and especially from the rooftop patio. ![]() If you switch the order of the index cards, or rename one, this will be reflected in your outline. ![]() Each index card represents a line in your outline. I can make notes on these index cards and order them sequentially. I then drag the mindmap into Scrivener, and each circle in my mindmap becomes an index card. I am a mindmapper, so I usually sketch things in Scrivener’s sister software Scapple. My workflow is not anything fancy, but the beauty of Scrivener is the ability to use it in a variety of ways. Interface change? Well, appearance will change with OS 10.10, but the basic interface structure doesn’t need changing.ĭISCLAIMER: I have no connections with Literanture & Latte, other than as a long-term user of Scrivener since just before it went commercial. Scrivener suits me down to the ground, and the only change I know I’m looking forward to is the introduction of style-sheets when Keith solves all the problems. So, Scrivener doesn’t suit you? That’s fine. But the fact that the Ulysses developer found it necessary to rewrite the code completely as Ulysses 2 was presumably not able to be upgraded without a major rewrite, doesn’t mean the same is true for Scrivener. I tried Ulysses 2 before I discovered Scrivener and couldn’t get on with it others prefer it to Scrivener and there are those who use both, but they say they use Ulysses for short articles/one-off short stories, but Scrivener for full-length works. Ulysses 3 is a writing app, but though it shares much in common with Scrivener, they are different. But would you write a 700 page scholarly work in OO? I wouldn’t dream of it. A tough job for a single programmer.įinally, OO4 is not a “writing app”, it’s an outliner, though you can expand it to write in it. ![]() rtf file in the package and where changing the style definition while working on one file will have to be propagated through all of the others even though they are not open at the time, and without slowing the app significantly. Even on the OSX (base development) version - where new versions only come out periodically … if someone encounters a bug that needs squashing, and making changes to make it work seamlessly under each new iteration of OSX - the thrust is working out how to integrate a proper stylesheet system which will work with a structure where each paragraph may be a separate. But just like the Windows version it is a separately coded, not a port - though the iOS and OSX versions may be able to share some frameworks - with much of the work involved as I understand it being in designing a touch interface which works for a structure as complex as Scrivener which works optimally for a traditional keyboard–mouse/trackpad interface. Literrature and Latte are taking a different route in developing the iOS version of Scrivener, and it has been slow. ![]() However if Omni change the interface in the way they’ve changed the interface on OG and OO, I will probably abandon it. I am happy that OW6 is slowly developing - OW did stagnate, in a way that Scrivener has not - and it is still my favourite browser, though I have to use an alternative for some sites and purposes. ![]() That is their decision, and we have to accept it or find alternative software. OmniGroup has taken the route for integrating OSX and iOS apps by making the OSX interface more like the iOS one as Apple is intent on doing. I have not upgraded to OmniGraffle 6 for that reason, and although I have upgraded to OO 4, I needn’t have done and I find the new interface more difficult to use. Those gizmos may well have nothing to offer the code and the interface fashions I do not perceive as necessarily an improvement. The utility of a program does not come to an end if the latest gizmos and interface fashions are not incorporated. ![]() ![]() 14th, the Dead Mage team is still hard at work on bringing the same experience to consoles. The label is clear, the company didn’t get notice of what happened right away, and since so much time had passed, it would be difficult to prove what caused the problem. However, most experts felt that it wouldn’t be a good idea. They said that her hair might have been fractured at the root. Their statement said, “We do not recommend using our products in or on hair as they are considered permanent.” The statement also provided some ideas on how to potentially get the glue out and different solvents to use, such as rubbing alcohol. It was big enough that Gorilla Glue had an official statement out within about 24 hours. The video received more than 18 million views in a short period. She may have been reaching out for help to see if anyone else had done something similar and had a solution. She said that she had washed her hair 15 times, and it still wasn’t moving. She took her story to TikTok a month after using the glue, where she explained what happened. It isn’t a product that should be used on hair or any part of the body. This Week’s Wacky Wednesday: Gorilla Glue Mishap Leads to a Lawsuit… But It’s Not What You Think ![]() ![]() The solution, predictably, is flashbacks, which Jesse experiences over and over again. Pre-release reporting in the Hollywood Reporter teased that at least 10 characters from Breaking Bad’s original run would return for El Camino, which was a little intriguing, since most of them were dead by the end of the show. He calls his parents he confronts enemies and (figurative) ghosts he grows more and more desperate. “The Disappearer,” who helped both Walt and Saul Goodman during the series - to help him get away, even though he’s come up just a little short of the cash needed to do so. That next move (and the next and the next and the next) form the plot of El Camino, a story about Jesse trying to finally, finally break free of his old life in Albuquerque and find a new one. He heads straight for the home of Skinny Pete (Charles Baker) and Badger (Matthew Lee Jones), where he cowers like a frightened (and very bushy) rabbit, trying to figure out his next move. The movie’s title comes from the car Jesse is driving when he escapes his imprisonment, which is more or less where El Camino begins: With Jesse screaming and driving like a man on fire away from the Aryan Brotherhood compound where he’d been held as a slave, cooking meth. (I won’t give away the plot in detail, but if you prefer to know nothing going in, here’s the point where you should stop and watch before you continue reading.) El Camino starts right after “Felina” ends It just means the fun comes from seeing your favorite characters again, not finally resolving missing pieces that have tortured your sleep for six years.Īnd on that front, El Camino delivers. Breaking Bad’s series finale certainly hasn’t inspired the kind of enduring discussion that followed the end of The Sopranos, for example. And he’s still going to be on the hook for the murder of two federal agents.”īut since then, there hasn’t exactly been a groundswell of speculation over how things played out for Jesse Pinkman (outside of my own staunch belief that he morphed into an animated character, changed his name to Todd, and went to live with a washed-up horse-man actor in Los Angeles). is that they’re going to find this kid’s fingerprints all over this lab and they’re going to find him within a day or a week or a month. Much like Walter White, who by the end of Breaking Bad had betrayed his family, lost his livelihood, and was, well, dead sure, he smiled, but he hadn’t really won in anyone’s eyes but his own. Breaking Bad confronted the notion that you somehow nobly “become” yourself through making “authentic” choices, according to your own self-determined values and your radical freedom.īecause those choices might leave you in a less-than-noble place: busted, hated, dead, mourned by nobody, and with a blazing path of destruction in your wake. ![]() To me, Breaking Bad always seemed almost satirical, a tongue-in-cheek exposé of the moral bankruptcy of some existentialists’ philosophy - a counterpoint to the idea that the goal of one’s life is to recognize and exercise one’s total freedom to choose. ![]() ![]() ![]() "Lil Red Caboose" near Smoky Mountains - Bryson City, NC - $85+/nightġ6.
